Topic: The Big Green Gathering 5th August 2007

Hi all,

Just got back from the Big Green today and what a stonker it was!
Even more fabulous than the weather, was the collection of 5 hangs in the tipi field just dotted about like cowpats!
I met Steve who had, what is yet, the most enchanting Hang I have ever played.
A MK2 Hang with gilded D ding and oddly no PANArt stamp on the shell, and a particularly sexy scale and a beautiful resonance! One of the holy grails among hangs me thinks...

Anyway, to all of you lovely folk who were there - bless you on your paths to Hang enlightenment!! It ws a pleasure to meet your Hangs, (and you.....  smile )

Re: The Big Green Gathering 5th August 2007

Hello - does any one know how much you have to pay for the Hang bag when you visit them in Bern? I will be going in Oct! smile

Re: The Big Green Gathering 5th August 2007

I think they are about 50 euros (£30) though they are possibly cheaper. It's been a while and I don't know if their prices are consistent.
They've had different bags over the years, and I think the current ones are the brown, natural fibre look with orange handles.

Re: The Big Green Gathering 5th August 2007

Hi All, I've just joined the forum today.

I've wanted to buy The Hang for years now after playing them at various festiavals, I just fell in love with them as soon as I played.

Only prob is-

I don't know where to buy one new or second hand?

I don't know much about them i.e maintanance, tuning etc?

Any info would be much appreciated. : )

Re: The Big Green Gathering 5th August 2007

Welcome to the forum Nept.

All the info you need is in the varioud topics in this and other Hang forums.

Second hand is a matter of luck and financial dominance! They've been going for silly money recently (£3000!!)
New they are around £450.

YOu need to write a personal letter to the Hang makers and get an invitation from them to visit the workshop in Switzerland. This is the only way to procure a new one.

Maintainence nand tuning is no exact science (except to say, if it's out of tune, you send it back to Switzerland to be re-tuned) or attempt a scary self-fix.

There will be an increasing amount of practical Hang usage info on Hangfan soon, but until you have one, it will be merely interesting reading for you.

I wish you much luck in finding a Hang for yourself.
