Topic: Brand new Hang sample package available - Hang Drum from SonicCouture
It was something I looked at doing professionally last year, and someone has had the sense to get on with it...
Sonic Couture present the Hang drum sample pack, in Kontakt 2 format, featuring over 2,000 individual samples from two different Hang drums, one Mk1 and one Mk2 (though the Hang numbers are not specified).
Listening to the samples available at their website, www.soniccouture.com, there's an impressive range of hits and playing styles, incuding slaps, knuckles and finger taps and they clearly demonstrate a huge potential for some unorthodox implementation in music creation.
It might not be the same as having that intimate relationship with a Hang, but it opens the world to untapped creative possibilities.
It will be interesting to see how the Hang community responds to, what was formerly, a relatively exclusive possibility and given the Hang prices at the moment, I can imagine there'd be many non-Hang owners who would jump at the chance of having the Hang sound palette at their fingertips.
