Topic: Recording Hang for an Automatic Music System

Hi, I'm brand new to Hang and have what might be a slightly odd question. I'm helping to build a generative music system as a stand alone hardware box (a little like Koan but simpler, if you're familiar with it). The aim of the box is to create ever changing ambient music and having a Hang instrument in there could, I think, work well.

Would there by an interest in us coming and doing a recording of various individual Hang sounds (not a musical performance)? We could certainly pay a small amount (as we're building all this hardware and software in our own time at the moment). We're based in London but could obviously travel around England.

That sounds very interesting. I'm sure you could find some interested participants. I would certainly be interested in contributing to such a project.
What are you planning to do with your magic box? Are you hoping to use it in specific settings or events or is it just a general experimental exercise?

Can't say too much at this stage, as is usual with tech projects (due to NDA). People have attempted automated composition systems before but I think one failing has been a lack of attention to the sounds being used rather than just the algorithms.
