Hi Hang folk of the world,
As we fast approach May we would like to give you all a quick update as to where we are with the HangOut for 2008.
Some poeple have been asking if this is a festival, and if so why limit it to only 50 people.
We are currently limited to 50 people, although there is some buffer on that of a possible 10 or so more tickets should we need to extend it.
It's the venue that currently limits us to 50 people. We hire one of the many outbuildings from the owner of Mellow farm, the Chicken shed, and it can hold up to 80 people, but it would be a bit of a squash and a squeeze. So its mainly for comfort of attendees that we limit to 50 people.
As time goes on and hopefully the event grows in demand we will look to hire the larger barn on the site, as well as the existing chicken shed and expand the event to cater for up to 300 people.
As for this event being a festival, we prefer an education in music. Many people coming to the event have only ever seen a Hang on the street or on You Tube, they've never actually been able to get up close to one. So for them its an education on the Hang itself and what music you can make with it.
For those who own a Hang already then it's the prefect place to come and meet likeminded Hang owners and a chance to see how the Hang can be played with other instruments... or even how 2 0r 3 Hang sound together when played.
The HangOut is not only for the Hang either, we welcome all instruments to the event, its a time for people to learn how to jam with the Hang... with guitar, Didjeridu, Saxaphone or even the triangle!
Ultimately since the stopping of the HangOut at the Hanghaus in Bern every year, we want to bring Hang owners from across the globe together to celebrate this wonderful instrument.
The HangOut is a completely non profit event, all money you pay goes back into the event in the hope of growing it year on year.
Just short of half the tickets are still available for the event, so please do book early to avoid dissapointment.
